Practice, Practice, Practice

Sport Performance

How often do you practice your mental skills?  For many, the answer to this question is not too often.  In reality, mental skill development is just as important, if not more important than your physical abilities.  Athletes typically spend hours in a given week developing their physical talents and often don’t practice ways to mentally prepare themselves for competition.  As a result, they are going into these competitions with only half of the tools necessary to be successful.  They are unprepared when things don’t go exactly as planned or they have some anxiety prior to competing.  Think about how much you mentally prepare for your sport.  Take the time each day to practice positive self-talk, visualization exercises, goal setting, etc.  I can guarantee you that you will begin to notice improved performance.
